The Dress Box

The Dress Box Knightsbridge is one of London’s oldest dress agencies started in mid-1930s it was acquired by Pamela Magrath in 1948 on her return from India following the declaration of independence. Wandering down Cheval Place one day she was reminded of Lutyens Deli by the sight of the Brompton Oratory, she stopped at The Dress Box where the owner in conversation said she was selling the business, Pam agreed to purchase it there and then

She then turned the business into her own member's club using her wide contacts in royalty and the aristocracy that she had cultivated whilst in India and spent many happy years holding court in the shop. After Stelios acquired the business and as a testament to her fortitude Pam was still working there at the age of 96.
